How To Get PMP Certification in Just 30 Days

people-in-training1

Most people don’t have a lot of time to study and many want to get the PMP certificate in a jiffy.

The PMP exam is not considered the easiest exam. But with the right strategy, a good PMP study plan, dedicated study each day, followed by practice questions can make you ready for the exam in just 30 days.

Here is my recommended action plan for PMP in 30 Days:

1. Check your eligibility for the PMP exam: Make sure you fulfill the requirements set by PMI. Both Degree and Diploma holders are eligible for the PMP exam. You must be having the required project management experience. If in doubt, do ask me a question below.

2. Fill the PMP application Form: Submit the completed PMP form to PMI at the earliest. It takes about a week to get your application approved. And if it is audited, it might take another 2-3 weeks to clear the audit. So get this done quickly.

3. Get the 35 Contact Hours: If you do not have the 35 contact hours certificate yet, quickly register for our online PMP exam preparation training program, and choose the Accelerated option. It will send you 2 videos to watch each day, which can be watched in about 1-1.5 hours. Then do some questions to practice on the concepts learned each day.

If you have more time, you can opt for a 1 video per day, and study 1 hour a day for 6 weeks.

4. Have a Dedicated Study Plan: Failing to Plan is Planning to Fail. You must start with a dedicated study plan for PMP, and study time. Since you want to pass the exam quickly, you’d better stick to a fixed schedule as much as possible. You must dedicate about 1-2 hours each day, going through the key processes. You can follow this plan to complete your PMP exam preparation Within 30 Days:

5. Find The Time To Study: Either wake up early and study for an hour, or stay later in the evening. One thing most people find easy is to grab a sandwich during lunch, and use the lunch hour to study for the PMP exam. In this hour, focus on listening the video lesson, or read the PMP exam prep book of your choice.

6. Do PMP Mock Tests: Start practicing with PMP mock tests. There are several tests which allow you to pick a particular knowledge area or process group, and then practice. This way, you can get a good feel of the questions from a particular knowledge area.

Some good PMP Mock Tests are:
PMP Exam Simulator
PMChamp Full Length PMP Exam (200 Questions)

7. Get a Good PMP Exam Study Guide: A book can be a handy guide at times to look up things and check out key definitions. Some of the best PMP books are the Rita Mulchahy’s PMP book or Andy’s PMP book. Plus you can always check out the latest PMBOK Guide. Although it has no questions, it can be a ready reference many a times. You can read my reviews of these books here.

8. Ask Questions Quickly: If you have any doubts, you should get them clarified. There’s a lot of advantages in asking your questions online. You can head over to the PMChamp Community Forum or even join a PMP LinkedIn Group or PMP Facebook Groups. There are several good ones available. You will get several replies, from the industry experts who are the members of the PMChamp PMP Community Forum, who are eager to help you.

9. Become well versed in answering Situational Questions: Most of the questions you will face in the PMP exam will be situational in nature. It is better to understand what to do in a situation. What is the right sequence of thinking. Watch this video & this PMP video to get a better idea.

If you do these steps carefully, and do not skip any step, you will be ready to take the PMP exam in just about 30 days.

Congratulations!

Cheers,
Vinai Prakash
